Who We Are?
A Place Where Creativity, Hospitality, and Restoration Meet
Nestled on the peaceful outskirts of Bethulie in the Free State, Bloekombos Guest House is more than a place to stay—it is a place to pause, breathe, and reconnect with what truly matters.
Surrounded by a Blue Gum forest at the rear and overlooking the Mynhardt Nature Reserve in front, Bloekombos offers a tranquil escape from the busyness of everyday life. Here, guests are invited to slow down, enjoy the beauty of nature, and experience genuine hospitality in a setting designed for rest and renewal.
Whether you are travelling through the Free State, attending a craft retreat, exploring the rich history of Bethulie, or simply seeking a peaceful getaway, Bloekombos provides a warm and welcoming home away from home.
The Story of Bloekombos
Bloekombos was created from a shared vision: to establish a space where people can find rest, inspiration, and meaningful connection.
Located in a beautifully preserved Victorian home dating back to the late 1800s, the guest house combines historic charm with modern comforts. The wide wrap-around veranda, peaceful gardens, and quiet surroundings create an atmosphere where time seems to slow down.
What began as a guest house has grown into a place where creativity flourishes, friendships are formed, and visitors leave feeling refreshed in both body and spirit.
Every detail of Bloekombos has been shaped with care to reflect the values that guide us—kindness, gentleness, creativity, and service.

Our Philosophy
Kindness and Gentleness Bring Healing and Restoration
At the heart of everything we do is a simple belief:
People flourish when they are given space to rest, create, reflect, and connect.
Whether someone visits Bloekombos for a single night, attends a four-day craft retreat, or discovers encouragement through one of our books, our hope is that they leave feeling refreshed, inspired, and strengthened.
We believe hospitality is more than providing accommodation. It is about creating an environment where people feel safe, welcomed, and valued.
It is our privilege to share this special place with every guest who walks through our doors.
